The Kitchen will take part, for the first time, in the annual presentation of Independent – a hybrid art collective, consortium and temporary exhibition forum. This fourth edition, dedicated to New York non-profit arts institutions hit hardest by Hurricane Sandy, will feature The Kitchen and fellow Chelsea-based organization Printed Matter on the fourth floor.
Each day will include 10-minute live performances programmed by The Kitchen’s curators, to offer audiences a look at the music, dance, theater, art and literature seen at The Kitchen year round. Highlights include appearances by Lynne Tillman, Steven Reker, Daniel Lopatin, Aki Sasamoto, Richard Maxwell and Dynasty Handbag.
