Film | How to Draw a Bunny (2002): An Unknowable, Inconoclastic Artist

Ray Johnson was a mystery wrapped in an enigma who lived his life like a Pop Art performance piece. This enthralling documentary - edited and directed by John Walter, photographed and produced by Andrew Moore - is at once playful and haunting, an in-depth portrait of an iconoclastic artist who was fundamentally unknowable even to his closest friends.

Opening Reception | Vilte Fuller: Strangers by the Side of the Road

An exhibition of new paintings by Lithuanian-born, London-based artist Vilte Fuller. The resulting paintings are glamorous hellscapes that lie in the uncanny valley between dystopia and nostalgia. They have a Frankenstein quality; indeed, when Fuller doesn’t have enough canvas for a big painting, she simply sews smaller pieces together to produce a sutured skin-like surface, like a patchwork quilt you’d rather leave in your grandmother’s parlor, surrounded by gruesome porcelain knickknacks and pickled vegetables.

Classical Music | String Quartet Performs Works by Mexican Composers

Momenta quartet dives into the fascinating and under-explored world of historic Mexican composers. They will perform Julián Carrillo’s String Quartet No. 1 (1903) - one of his most ambitious large-scale tonal compositions, giving a glimpse into the composer’s style before his groundbreaking foray into microtonality. Also on the program will be an usual high-modernist offering from one of Mexico’s most widely celebrated composers, Carlos Chávez and Moncayo’s Sonata for Viola and Piano (1934), which is believed to be the first composition by a Mexican composer featuring the viola. Momenta Quartet has premiered over 150 works, collaborated with over 200 living composers and was praised by The New York Times for its "diligence, curiosity and excellence." In the words of The New Yorker's Alex Ross, "few American players assume Haydn's idiom with such ease."
