Screening | Ecuadorian LGBTQ+ Film Fest: Short & Mid-Length Works

This festival aims to recognize the accomplishments of Ecuadorian queer filmmaking by featuring a line-up of short and medium-length films covering variety of genres such as documentary, narrative and experimental films. As in much of Latin America, queer visibility in cinema in Ecuador was mostly negligible during the 20th century. As the new century rolled in, a small but growing number of Ecuadorian filmmakers began weaving in stories where queer characters were the main focus. Often self-financed on micro-budgets under the sphere of stigma, the emergence of queer cinema in Ecuador became a transgressive cry for visibility as much as an artistic expression.

Concert | Multi-Genre Music from Unconventional Singer

Multidisciplinary artist Sparklmami transcends mediums to build a world untethered to conventional structures in this presentation. Texas-raised, Chicago-based, of Mexican and Indian heritage, and nurtured singing in church, Sparklmami uses instinctual improvisation reminiscent of Brazilian jazz, experimental soul, Mexican bolero, and funk to express the sentient nature of being. Her debut album In This Body is composed of kaleidoscopic vignettes that tap into her confessional subconscious as Sparklmami explores how our perception of the past shapes our present identity. For ages 12+. There are two ways to access this event: 1. General Admission, first-come first-served. Just show up! 2. Fast Track opening the Tuesday before the event at noon.

Play | The Striker: Drama that Blends Fairy Tale, Psychological Tension, and Political Allegory

The Skriker is a bold, surreal, and poetic play that dives deep into themes of transformation, motherhood, and the fractured relationship between humans and the natural world. At its center is the Skriker--an ancient, shape-shifting demon who lures two young women into her uncanny realm. Blending fairy tale, psychological drama, and political allegory, Churchill's visionary work unsettles and enchants through her signature language and fearless theatrical experimentation. Written by Caryl Churchill. Directed by Delia Dumont. Cast: India Shea, Pauline Lara, Katie Parkinson, Sophia Parker, Henry Sirota, Chloe Clark, Jordan Ward, and Amiere Bell. Please be advised that this production includes the following content: Mental illness & psychiatric hospitalization; Violence & threat of violence; Supernatural horror & psychological terror; Death & references to death ; Infanticide & child endangerment; Self-harm & suicidal ideation; Implied sexual violence; Abuse & manipulation; and Strong language.
