Discussion | Child Poverty Is Personal: How Do We End It? (in-person and online)

In support of nearly 13 million American children living in poverty, we invite you to join us for the first of three critical discussions about soaring rates of deprivation—and how we can stop child poverty now. Join columnist and Nobel Prize laureate Paul Krugman, social activist Holly Fogle, award-winning journalist Maria Hinojosa, and social policy expert H. Luke Shaefer, as we launch this series in partnership with The Invisible Americans Podcast: “End Child Poverty Now,” hosted by Jeffrey Madrick and Carol Jenkins.

Speakers:
-- Paul Krugman, Distinguished Professor of Economics, The Graduate Center, CUNY. Senior Scholar, Stone Center of Socio-Economic Inequality, New York Times columnist and Nobel Prize Laureate in Economics.
-- Holly Fogle, Philanthropist and social activist, Co-Founder of The Monarch Foundation and The Bridge Project, with a commitment to supporting mothers and babies for the first 1000 days.
-- Maria Hinojosa, Pulitzer Prize, Peabody Award, Emmy Award winning journalist. Founder of nonprofit multicultural communications project Futuro Media, and author of Once I Was You: A Memoir of Love and Hate in a Torn America.
-- Luke Shaefer, Hermann and Amalie Kohn Professor and associate dean at the Ford School of Public Policy, University of Michigan, Director of Poverty Solutions, and co-author with Kathryn Edin and Timothy J. Nelson of The Injustice of Place: Uncovering the Legacy of Poverty in America.
-- Jeffrey Madrick, moderator and co-host of The Invisible Americans, is the author of seven books on the economy, including Invisible Americans: The Tragic Cost of Child Poverty. A former New York Review of Books and New York Times columnist, and former Emmy-award winning television financial analyst.
-- Carol Jenkins, moderator, and co-host of The Invisible Americans, is an Emmy winning former television anchor and corresponded, was the founding president of The Women’s Media Center and Past President and CEO of the ERA Coalition and Fund for Women’s Equality. She is co-author, with Elizabeth Hines of Black Titan: A.G. Gaston and the Making of a Black American Millionaire, a biography of her uncle.
