Maria Alejandra Rodriguez is a producer, composer and performer who emigrated from Venezuela several years ago and has been entertaining her audiences in Spanish with bossa nova, cha cha, and Latin jazz. It's her program of boleros--the torch-like love song first popularized at the end of 18th century Spain and spread extensively throughout 19th century Cuba--and her many original compositions, that leaves her audience asking for more. At times she accompanies her band on a cuatro, which is a small Venezuelan guitar. Rodriguez plays music rooted in Venezuelan traditions, and has performed at concert halls including Teatro Para Todos, Hoy Como Ayer, Miami Hilton Intercontinental Wynwood Kitchen and Bar, and MOCA Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami. She also performed sold out shows in New York at Terraza Seven, El Taller Latinoamericano, Casa Mezcal, Antibes Bistro and Shrine World Music Venue.
