Vivaldi’s first collection of concertos, known as L’estro armonico became the most influential publication of its’ day. Though written for the girls in Venice’s famous orphanage, these pieces were published in Amsterdam and again in London and Paris. Their impact was felt throughout Europe, most notably in those works that Bach transcribed and which inspired his own celebrated compositions.
