Pierre Boulez (1925-2016) became one of the most prominent conductors of his generation. In a career ... more >> lasting more than sixty years, he held the positions of chief conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and music director of the New York Philharmonic, and principal guest conductor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Cleveland Orchestra. He made frequent guest appearances with many of the world's other great orchestras, including the Vienna Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestra. In this 2008 concert at the Salzburg Festival, Boulez is joined by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra for a program that features Ravel's Valses nobles et sentimentales, Stravinsky's The Firebird, and Bartok's Piano Concerto No. 1 with highly-acclaimed Daniel Barenboim. Streaming will be available until August 13, 12 PM.
