wee dance company presents De torrente and Happily Ever After. De torrente is a simple, personal encounter with the flow of water and time, whose inspiration comes from Handel's Dixit Dominus, verse 7 of Psalm 110: "He will drink from the brook by the way; therefore he will lift up his head.” Happily Ever After explores how since childhood, we are inundated with fairy tales about how we will eventually find and marry our soulmate. Then the story goes: "…and they lived happily ever after." In adulthood, we are convinced that we were promised this happy ending. Yet, how many opportunities for happiness right under our noses do we miss by looking beyond them in constant search for that non-existent, promised dream partner? The wee dance company (Görlitz, Germany) was founded in 1999 in Berlin by Marko E. Weigert, Sommer Ulrickson and Dan Pelleg. "At a distance from the fashionable, the wee dance company has for years been developing its discrete and independent aesthetics..." (Die Deutsche Bühne), "...This group, with its elegance, meticulousness and rich inventiveness ... satisfies a longing that we'd believed to be long forgotten." (Neues Deutschland) — In its 25 years, the wee dance company has created 22 full-evening dance pieces. Critics have praised them as "transporting meaning sharp as a razor" with a "physical verbal force, before which words pale," as "truly excitingly imaginative," as "such a unique sort of theatre, that one is constantly compelled to intensive perception, and may watch, contemplate and associate abundantly," and as an example of "how casualness and quality combine in an intelligent symbiosis." The company has performed in 15 different countries and over 30 different cities in Germany.
