Looking at film as a way to explore otherness, foreignness and exclusion, this session will evolve around the cinematic. Join current resident Halvorsen in conversation with New York-based curator and art critic Niels Van Tomme.
Halvorsen is a curator and artist based in Oslo. She has mainly been involved in the language between film and video art, but is more and more concerned about the role the artist. She is currently working on a project where she is looking at storytelling and the myths related to the artist. In addition she is teaching at the Academy in Oslo, KHiO and in Bergen, KHIB. Since 2001 Halvorsen has been involved in numerous projects as an curator, artist, and writer.
Van Tomme is a researcher and art critic who serves as the Director of Arts and Media at Provisions Library in Washington, DC. He is an adjunct professor in Museum Curatorship at UMBC and a contributor to various journals, magazines and exhibition catalogues, including Afterimage, Art Papers, Foreign Policy in Focus and hART.
