Concert | Pipes at One Concert

The mechanical-action pipe organ of the church was built in 1964 by the Schlicker Organ Company of Buffalo, New York, and re-built by the Andover Organ Company of Methuen, Massachusetts in 1981. It boasts the oldest pipe organ case in New York City, made of mahogany and dating from 1802, and contains 1,632 pipes. Following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center situated directly across the street from St. Paul’s, the organ was silenced, but has since been partially cleaned and made payable by Mann & Trupiano organ-builders from Brooklyn. The organ is featured weekly in live broadcasts on WWFM of “Bach at One” liturgical presentations by the Trinity Choir and Trinity Baroque Orchestra. And then improvise based on that discussion — all in front of an audience! To spice up the pot, each competitor ponies up $100 at the start of the run and the winner, the person with the biggest percentage of weight loss — not number of pounds lost — will walk away with the majority of the money.

The author rejects this view and argues powerfully that hate speech should be regulated as part of our commitment to human dignity and to inclusion and respect for members of vulnerable minorities.
