Discussion | Winner of International Tchaikovsky Competition and Acclaimed Composer in Conversation (virtual)


Violinist Jennifer Koh, winner of International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, has appeared with orchestras worldwide, including the New York, Los Angeles, and Helsinki Philharmonics; Cleveland, Mariinsky, Philadelphia, and Philharmonia (London) Orchestras. She has premiered more than 100 works written especially for her. David T. Little is "one of the most imaginative young composers" on the scene (The New Yorker), with "a knack for overturning musical conventions" (The New York Times). His music has been presented by the LA Philharmonic, Carnegie Hall, LA Opera, Lincoln Center Festival, Kennedy Center, Opera de Montreal, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. They will discuss the complexity and nuance of the collaborative process. Using Little's solo violin work obscure clues and shiny objects as a jumping off point, this conversation will explore idiomatic writing, creative process, and the nuts and bolts of a successful world premiere.
