The Orchestra Now; Zachary Schwartzman, conductor Program Hector Berlioz (1803-1869) Roman Carnival Overture Benjamin Britten (1913-1976) Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes Jean Sibelius (1865-1957) Symphony No. 5 Tan Dun (1957- ) Symphonic Poem of Three Notes About the Performers The Orchestra Now (TON) is a group of more than 60 vibrant young musicians from 14 different countries around the globe: the United States, Bulgaria, China, France, Hungary, Malaysia, Mongolia, Peru, Poland, Spain, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, and Venezuela. All share a mission to make orchestral music relevant to 21st-century audiences. Zachary Schwartzman has conducted around the United States, in Brazil, England, Bosnia, and Mexico. His orchestral performances have been featured on NPR, including a national broadcast on "Performance Today." He was associate conductor for two seasons with New York City Opera, as well as conductor in their VOX series, and has been associate/assistant conductor for fifteen productions at Glimmerglass Opera.

Concert | Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols Performed By Chorus


The Trinity Youth Chorus presents Benjamin Britten's festive A Ceremony of Carols. A Ceremony of Carols is an extended choral composition for Christmas by Benjamin Britten. The text, structured in eleven movements, is taken from The English Galaxy of Shorter Poems, edited by Gerald Bullett. It is principally in Middle English, with some Latin and Early Modern English. It was composed in 1942 on Britten's sea voyage from the United States to England. About The Performers Recent highlights of The Trinity Youth Chorus include Orff's Carmina Burana, Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, a fully staged production of Britten's Noye's Fludde, Ellen Reid's Winter's Child at the Prototype Festival, Ginastera's Turbae ad Passionem Gregorianam and Mahler's Symphony No. 8 at Carnegie Hall.
