Tour | Greenwich Village Neighborhood Tour

Greenwich Village is among Manhattan's most desirable and expensive residential neighborhoods. It's history, however, betrays it's monied status. The Village, with it's quiet, shaded streets, lined with lovely brick and brownstone townhouses, was once the incubating ground of artistic, social and political movements that have helped shape US history. From the Beats to the Folk Movement, from workers rights to gay rights, the Village has often been the center of it all.

Dance Performance | Open Studios with Dancers Faye Driscoll and luciana achugar

In Faye Driscoll's Thank You For Coming, individual bodies come together to make something bigger than the sum of their parts, presenting a series of entanglements, which exploit how dance and performance have been used as tools to embody knowledge, to pass on experience, and to liberate. Thank You For Coming premieres at Danspace Project March 6-8, 11, and 13-15. OTRO TEATRO, which translates to "another/other theater," is a solo created and performed by luciana achugar that takes place metaphorically in the ruins of a collapsed theater and explores the ritual of movement and sound. OTRO TEATRO premieres at Walker Art Center February 27-March 1 and at New York Live Arts April 2-5.

Opening Reception | Multimedia Works: Sebastian Errazuriz's Tough Love

Courts have one sole task: to fulfill the demands of justice. Cultural institutions have over time adopted more than one task. The question this exhibition poses is: What is the task of cultural institutions today? In this exhibition, culture, in the form of art and design objects, operates as a place to test society’s deeds. This exhibition calls into question citizenship, art and design as acts of passive observance by inserting active forces within the viewer, the buyer or the cultural consumer with consequences beyond the gallery walls.
