Hike | Park in Winter Hike


About 7 miles and 4 hours. Walk some of the 26 miles of trails in the park. Great views of the Palisades and Hudson River and see Indian caves, the site of a Revolutionary War fort and look for remains of houses and institutions that used to exist in the park. The hike will be slow, but it will be strenuous, with hills to walk up and down. Bring lunch.

Tour | Flatiron District Walking Tour


A journey through the vibrant neighborhood, viewing some of the City’s most notable landmarks, including the New York Life Insurance Building, the MetLife Clock Tower, the Appellate Courthouse and the famous Flatiron Building. Tour guides: Miriam Berman, historian and the author of Madison Square: The Park and Its Celebrated Landmarks and New York in Words and Images, a book of New York postcards. Fred Cookinham, historian, author of The Age of Rand: Imagining an Objectivist Future World. Mike Kaback, a native New Yorker, has an unquenchable enthusiasm for everything about this city. Dance Performance | Interglacial: An 8-Hour Performance


Striking geometric movement evokes images of an icy terrain and cleaving glaciers. Acting as a metaphor for the devastating effect that humans have on the environment, this work tackles dramatic shifts in our understanding of the contemporary world. The installation changes throughout the day as large paper sculptures accumulate. Come anytime during the 8-hour span. Performed by Jennifer Sydor, Janessa Clark, Darrin Wright, Marion Spencer, Nicole Wolcott, and choreographer Laura Peterson

Film | Harlem to Kilimanjaro (2020): Documenting a Journey


The premiere of a documentary film chronicling the May 2019 trip to Tanzania by 5 Harlem-based filmmakers. The group visited a traditional Maasai village, met with local filmmakers, went on safari to Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, recorded a song with musicians, and met with Pete and Charlotte O'Neal, former members of the Black Panther Party out of Kansas City, Missouri and founders of the United African Alliance Community Center. In addition, a retrospective of short films will be screened produced by the students of the Digital Media Training Program over the past six years. Awards will be presented to students and community members. Light refreshments will be served.

A solo exhibition of work by Norwegian artist Tiril Hasselknippe. The exhibition is composed of two separate large-scale sculptures throughout both floors of the gallery. Referencing the Brutalist architecture of the early 20th Century Modernism, the artist works primarily within the mediums of concrete, steel and natural materials.
