It’s never easy to go home, but this program of spirited black comedies, fraught animations and intimate documentaries offers hope for reconciliation. Everybody grows up, and finds their own way. Friends are left behind, families change, pass on. Toys and clothes we found comforting as children, streets and forests we once called home, they come to seem foreign, confining, haunted. When we reunite, the past is all-too present, confining, alienating. Sometimes we react with tragic silence, sometimes we lash out, hopefully we find solace and laughter.
