Galbraith and Alfred Gusenbauer in a panel discussion that aims to highlight the experiences of the democratic revolutions in 1989 with a view to draw lessons for today's fundamental economic and ideological crisis. James K. Galbraith's most recent book, The Predator State: How Conservatives Abandoned the Free Market and Why Liberals Should Too, has drawn international acclaim. Galbraith is a Senior Scholar of the Levy Economics Institute and a chair of Economists for Peace and Security. Alfred Gusenbauer was Chancellor of Austria from January 2007 to December 2008 and the leader of the Social Democratic Party from 2000 to 2008. He served many years in the Austrian Parliament, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and was the Vice President of the Socialist International. Andreas Stadler will moderate this conversation.
