A horticulturist guides walkers through the park and the “hot” and “cool” gardens designed by Lynden B. Miller. Peonies and irises are the season’s showstoppers, and visitors will delight in the eight varieties of scarlet, white and pink roses. Also in bloom will be several varieties of purple clematis, English Lavender, Yarrow, Lady’s Mantle, Catmint, Foxglove, Columbine, Centranthus ruber, Epimedium, False Blue Indigo (Baptisia australis), Hydrangea, and Allium gigantum, with its large purple globes. Above them all stands Meadow Rue (Thalictrum “Lavender Mist”), which grows 6 to 7 feet in height.
