Performance | (ski mask, glitter glasses, knee socks, love letter...), a “Performance Lecture” by Jenn Joy & Heather Kravas

(ski mask, glitter glasses, knee socks, love letter...) begins with an exchange of gifts: an essay that meanders from hotel rooms to diners to forsaken landscapes, cardboard glasses covered in eyes and glitter that one cannot see through, a photograph shot in a bathroom of a face obscured by a ski mask overwritten with the words "more or less safe." The accumulation and transformation of these gifts - objects, movements, images, gestures, stories - creates the content for the public performance lecture. Structured as a series of precarious situations within the gallery space, Heather Kravas and Jenn Joy negotiate the risks of desire, memory, inscription, and dysfunction.

City Walk | Our Majestic Civic Center and The Five Points Tour

Often treated as an area where people pass through to and from work, some of New York's most storied and magnificent buildings can be found in and around City Hall, such as the Woolworth Building, Tweed Courthouse, One Centre Street, and of course City Hall itself, now 200 years old. The area once served as the city's first entertainment district and later the buildings on Park Row once housed many of the city's major newspapers including the New York Times. Heading uptown, skirt the edge of what was once the Five Points neighborhood featured in the film Gangs of New York. Rediscover the courthouse district and reflect on lower Manhattan's early history at the African Burial Ground. The city's first major shopping and textile district is also here–A.T. Stewart opened the nation's first department store in 1846 at a building that still stands. End the tour in nearby Tribeca, one of the city's most transformed neighborhoods over the past 20 years.
