And yet, we read that many people, perhaps including ourselves, have been unemployed for months. Are you getting through the first and sometimes the second interview and not getting the offer? Have you tapped out your contacts? Are you not getting any call backs? Sometimes we can't see what others can. Opening Reception | Group Exhibition: Matter Out of Place

Time and space in the urban setting are often highly regimented, with different moments and places typically allocated for specific behaviors, both public and private. Yet often overlooked in any such structure is the personal history carried within each individual, which inevitably informs her or his experience at the same time that it offers the possibility of reshaping the use of any site. Taking its title from anthropologist Mary Douglas’s analyses of how disturbances arise in the city’s physical contours and social order, Matter Out of Place presents new work by New York–based artists who observe, represent, and activate public sites, generating alternative relationships to such strictly defined spaces as the housing project, park, and museum lobby. Artists include Paul Branca, Frank Heath, David Horvitz, Fawn Krieger, Sara Jordenö (in collaboration with Amber Horning), and Anna Lundh. Shown: Frank Heath, still from "Graffiti Report Form," 2012, HD Video, 50min

Jazz | Jazz: Gretchen Parlato / Gregory Porter

Gretchen Parlato comes with her sultry, intriguing voice and unique, rhythmically agile phrasing. Describing her style and versatility, The Boston Globe notes, “Her voice is a conflux where hope, sensuality and tragedy all merge…the most original jazz singer in a generation.” With her last release, The Lost and Found garnering the top spot on many of the year-end best of lists inclusive of Vocal Album of the Year from both the 2011 Jazz Critics Poll and iTunes Jazz charts, Parlato has emerged as a powerful vocalist and lyricist. Following Parlato in this double bill is jazz vocalist Gregory Porter. With a voice that can caress or confront, embrace or exhort, Gregory Porter exhibits such incredible degree of vocal mastery that jazz luminary Wynton Marsalis has gone on record to call him “a fantastic young singer.” His 2010 release Water reflects the seasoned talents of the giants of blues, gospel and soul that have influenced Porter throughout his career. His latest critically acclaimed release Be Good was released in February of this year.

Theater | Shakespeare's As You Like It, Directed by Tony Winner Daniel Sullivan

Rosalind, Shakespeare's most breathtaking heroine, and her boyfriend Orlando find themselves in the enchanted Forest of Arden, where all the world's a stage, and where sudden infatuation is as confusing as it is beautiful. Along with other "country copulatives," they discover that nothing transforms, redeems, or enriches experience quite as powerfully as love. As You Like It has everything we adore about Shakespearean comedy: mistaken identity, cross-dressing, madness, mayhem, rage, lust, laughter, and of course plenty of romance, both heartbreaking and joyous. Featuring Brendan Averett, Andre Braugher, Donna Lynne Champlin, Grantham Coleman, Jon DeVries, MacIntyre Dixon, Susannah Flood, David Furr, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Andrew Hovelson, Robert Joy, Jesse Lenat, Erik Mathew, Omar Metwally, Oliver Platt, Lily Rabe, Will Rogers, Michael Rudko, Justine Salata, Paul Saylor, Anna Phyllis Smith, Stephen Spinella, and Brendan Titley.
