Performance | Performance Art: Snapping Turtle/Wishing Well by DeLesslin George-Warren


DeLesslin George-Warren explores the Native American mythologies and religions built up around water sources in this performance piece. As settlers encroached on Native lands many peoples lost access to their ancient waterways, inducing spiritual and physical crises that Native people have yet to recover from. For a total of 40 hours over 5 days, George-Warren will stand in a pond holding a raining umbrella. He will sing and recite Native stories describing the history of water, as well as a recent Native manifesto on water rights.
