Basil King is a painter/poet, born in England before World War II and living in Brooklyn since 1969. He attended Black Mountain College as a teenager and has been painting for the last six decades and writing since the 1980s. His books include Warp Spasm, mirage: a poem in 22 sections, Learning to Draw/A History, and most recently, The Spoken Word/The Painted Hand. He is the subject and narrator of the 2012 film Basil King: MIRAGE and in 2014 served as the narrator of Black Mountain Songs, presented as part the BAM Next Wave Festival.
