Opening Reception | Kevin Ford: Duh

This show is a nod to the seemingly obvious subjects Ford captures in this selection of paintings. These are objects we see so frequently, appearing in the backgrounds of our lives and pictures, that their presence loses meaning. Ford is determined to find value in these objects, and through his nuanced paint handling, he transforms the obvious into the exotic. Please join us for our opening reception on June 30, from 6-8PM.  The press release is attached below and as always let me know if you have any questions.

Performance | A fire circle for a public hearing: Performance Art

Paul Maheke is an artist working in performance, video, sculpture, and installation. His performances are predominantly based in dance and movement, often accompanied by poetic voice-overs or scripts; they explore the ways that bodies can act as archives of history and personal experience. A fire circle for a public hearing develops Maheke’s ongoing engagement with the potential of the body as an archive; the performance addresses how history, memory, and identity are formed. In the work, three performers channel different characters as if possessed by ghostly entities. Their movements and dialogue explore hypervisibility and erasure as they play out in historical marginalization and contemporary political movements. Maheke brings this compelling performance to the US for the first time.

Originally formed by Jorge Glem, Hector Molina, and Edward Ramirez, then later rounded out by the addition of bassist Rodner Padilla, all of the band are renowned solo and session performers in their own right, making C4 Trio the greatest cuatro supergroup in the world. Tony Award nominee Robert O’Hara (Slave Play, The Public’s Barbecue) brings his sharp wit and storytelling genius with a bold new production of Richard III. Following his lust for power and the throne, he manipulates, kidnaps, and kills all who stand between him and his throne, using brilliant words and dark charm to conceal his dismantling of government and justice.
