Based on a true story, Veronica Guerin is an investigative reporter for an Irish newspaper. As the drug trade is becoming more mainstream, Guerin decides to expose those responsible. She starts at the bottom with addicts then gets in touch with paranoid informant John Traynor. After some prodding, Traynor leads Guerin to John Gilligan, the ruthless head of the operation. He does not take kindly to Guerin's poking around.
