One of the oldest free weekly events in Manhattan is Dixieland Jazz with the Gotham Jazzmen, which happen at noon every Tuesday. Another example of an event that you can attend all year round on weekdays is Federal Reserve Bank Tour, which takes place every week day at 1 pm (but advanced reservations are required). You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. If you are classical music afficionado, you can spend whole day in New York going from one free classical concert to another. The Whiskey Rebellion contains six members dedicated to making a roof-shaking joyful hodgepodge of honky-tonk, jump blues, and rock 'n' roll. Dock Oscar & The Ambassadors of Love with Charlie Shaw, Gary Keenan, Shakey Dave and Ebie Carter is a full-pedal, old-syle string band. Putting together the finest aspects of folk music of yore: murder ballads, gospel, fiddle breakdowns, tight harmony duets and bluegrass standards.

Concert | Eidolon, experimental music


Eidolon, a 12 member acoustic ensemble, will present compositions they have been developing. All five spaces of the bank vault in the basement level rehearsal space will be used; one composition, written by an ensemble member, assigned to each room. Sound will overlay, shift, and at times pause, as performers travel through each space and interact with timbers reflected in each space. A few timed sections during the three-hour concert will be designated for a tutti section, where all performers gather to play a single piece.
