You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. Hike | Poughkeepise Bridges & Downtown


8-10 miles, moderate to brisk pace. Walk over the Hudson River on both the historic Poughkeepsie Rail Bridge recently opened as a spectacular pedestrian and bike path, and on the Mid-Hudson Bridge. Also explore architectural highlights of downtown Poughkeepsie. Bring lunch, water, and snacks. Some drop-out points possible. Awful or dangerous weather cancels. Other | Clean Sanctuary Campaign


Join the efforts to help care for the more than 400 acres of water in the park's Estuarine Sanctuary. The Clean Sanctuary Campaign has been created to remove debris from the river, as floatables and flotsam arrive daily with the tide. They will provide skimmers, telescoping hook poles, trash bags and gloves. You must be 18 years of age. Sturdy footwear with deep treads, and long pants are required. Dress for weather.

Hike | Conference House Park & Beach Hike


Past and present blend in the Conference House Park where history stretches back thousands of years with the seasonal occupation of the Lenape and hundreds of years with the habitation of the Dutch and English. In addition to the local history, observe the geology of the area and look for what the debris at the high tide line has to reveal. As the tide goes out we'll move into the intertidal zone to find out what sorts of living things survive in this challenging environment.

Hike | Jersey-Hudson River Saunter Part 2


If you’ve been searching for a journey with spectacular views of the Big Apple from a different perspective, make it a must to join us on this amazing 14+ mile medium-paced walk. First, walk across the George Washington Bridge from Manhattan; then we spiral south along The Palisades, The Cliffs and The Shores of New Jersey. Later we pass through Historic Hoboken, and finally end our adventure at the newly rebuilt pier near the tip of Jersey (Liberty) City, N.J. Please bring plenty of water, fresh fruit & nuts for energy, and/or lunch for this visually stunning, 7+ hour “mini-saunter.” Return to Manhattan by PATH.

Other | “Adoptapalooza” Pet Adoption Celebration


The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals is excited to announce the first annual Adoptapalooza, a creative and fun-filled community event that features pet adoptions and also promotes the joys of sharing your life with a pet. Dogs and cats will be available for adoption from two Alliance Participating Organizations -- Animal Care & Control of NYC and Sean Casey Animal Rescue – as well as Animal Farm Foundation and the Picasso Veterinary Fund of the Mayor’s Alliance. This event will feature an exciting program of activities and entertainment. Some of the activities being planned include, disc dog performances, dog training instruction, TTouch for pets, ask-the-vet, a doggie costume contest and adoptable dog trot showcase as well as a raffle. Information about pet adoption spay/neuter, microchipping, dog licensing and other pet-related services and partner organizations will also be available.

An ecological parade and performance art event to raise awareness for the restoration of the Hudson River and address climate change in New York City. The Hudson River Pageant features a parade of giant puppets, spectacular costumes, and musical bands. At the various piers and significant sites, performances, songs, dance, poetry, and ceremonies highlighting the river and issues, are presented along the parade route, from The World Financial Center/Marina to Gansevoort Street, in the downtown section of the Hudson River Park, 1-6pm.
