Students in 10 New York City public middle schools from all five boroughs will present their public art pieces—school lunchroom tables transformed into colorful works of art that address major social issues in their communities and the world (including bullying, gay rights, environmental awareness, gang violence, etc.)—and display them in the largest student art exhibition in the history of NYC parks.
Students will present their work and will be honored by NYC School Chancellor Dennis M. Walcott, Brooklyn Parks Commissioner Kevin Jeffrey and others. Guest Artist Christo will be in attendance.
Todd Robbins plays Ragtime and classic Tin Pan Alley songs. He is often heard on Monday nights playing piano with Woody Allen's Jazz Band and has recorded two albums with that group.

This provocative tension exists between the experiential nature of early American folk art and the fantastical imagery it often displays—between what is real and what is imagined. The same is true of the work of contemporary self-taught artists, which may introduce unique—and sometimes puzzling—expressions that illuminate the iconoclastic nature that is the flip side of the collective American psyche.
Join a free Stay Well exercise session. Stay Well volunteers certified by the NYC's Department for the aging will lead participants in a well-balanced series of exercises for seniors of all ability levels. Please wear loose comfortable clothing. Exercise equipment will be provided. All participants are required to sign a personal medical waiver at the beginning of the class.

Prospect Park was designed 10 years after Central Park and was given everything that Olmsted & Vaux had to fight for in Central Park. After long battles over Central Park, Olmsted worked in the Sanitary Commission as part of the Civil War and then went out west to prospect for gold. He was loured back by Vaux to do Prospect with the promise of lots of funding, no politics and a beautiful site. Brooklyn, then a city of its own, was very competitive with New York City and wanted a better park than Central.
