When is a play about a boxer not really about boxing? When it's the 2016 Obie and Drama Desk Award-winning The Royale! The play is about the life of the outsider in America as much as it is about charismatic African-American boxer Jay "The Sport" Jackson. The stylized and stunning conception of Marco Ramirez was realized by director Rachel Chavkin. The streaming is available through May 16th.

Tour | Haifa's Kaleidoscope: German Colony and Bahai Gardens (virtual)


Haifa is where the Mediterranean Sea meets Mount Carmel, where dozens of different cultures and religions live side by side on the green slopes of the mountain. Gallery Talk | (IN-PERSON, indoors) Queer-y-ing the Arab: A Curatorial Tour


The Earl of Bushwick gives a tour of Queer-y-ing the Arab in person. Tours will cap at 6 people. Queer-y-ing the Arab explores queerness through an Arab perspective. It queries and then queers interpretations of queer, Arab, and art, pushing the boundaries of assumption to explore unfamiliar meanings. The Earl of Bushwick is a non-binary queer Arab and immigrant, concerned with ideas of the Queer, the Other, and issues of not belonging, especially as it applies to art and class. Their home in Brooklyn, dubbed The Earl's Court (2015), is a long-running safe space and art project. Tour times: 4pm, 5pm

Who Killed Vincent Chin? recounts the stark facts surrounding the brutal murder of Vincent Chin, a 27-year-old Chinese American man. Chin was celebrating his last days of bachelorhood in a Detroit bar when an argument broke out between him and two white autoworkers: Ronald Ebens, a Chrysler Motors foreman, and his stepson, Michael Nitz. Duration: 87 minutes Directors: Christine Choy, Renee Tajima-Pena Beginning May 7 at 5 p.m. until May 10 at 5 p.m., Who Killed Vincent Chin? will be available to stream, with a 24-hour viewing window once the screening has started. Body / Light I is an immersive, interactive art installation by Random International Art Group in which viewers are invited to draw with their bodies as their movements are temporarily traced in light. Enjoy a score performed live by composer and multi-instrumentalist Lester St. Louis, and choreographic responses to the sculpture by three dancers from the New York Theatre Ballet. The art installation is on view on May 7, 4 pm - 9 pm; May 8, 9, 1 pm - 9 pm. Live performances are from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.

Meanwhile, CW (F. Murray Abraham) reconciles some unresolved issues from his past, the testers (Ashly Burch and Imani Hakim) test the bounds of an office romance, and David (David Hornsby) loses yet another woman in his life as Jo ( Jessie Ennis) leaves him to assist Brad (Danny Pudi). During the 2019-20 season, Maestro Nezet-Seguin took the podium to lead a powerful new production of Berg's shocking modern masterpiece Wozzeck, directed by innovative artist, filmmaker, and director William Kentridge. In this performance, baritone Peter Mattei stars as the title character, making his role debut as the tormented soldier whose madness and paranoia ultimately drive him to murder. The exceptional cast also features soprano Elza van den Heever as Wozzeck's dissatisfied lover, Marie, and tenors Gerhard Siegel and Christopher Ventris and bass-baritone Christian Van Horn as his ruthless persecutors. The event will be streaming for 23 hours.

Dance Performance | Korean National Ballet (virtual)


Heo Nan Seol Heon - Su Wol Kyung Hwa is a piece about Heo Nan Seol Heon's (1563~1589) life and her poems, who was a prominent Korean poetess of the mid-Joseon dynasty. "Su Wol Kyung Hwa" is a four-character idiom that refers to the moonlight reflected on the water and a flower in the mirror. This denotes a poetic, intangible atmosphere, one that is visible but cannot be touched, and beautiful beyond description. The performance was filmed in 2017 at Seoul Arts Center. The streaming will be available until May 9, 8 pm.
