Republican Crocker Jarmon has no one running against him for senate, so campaign manager Marvin Lucas recruits Bill McKay, a leftist lawyer. Gradually, Lucas pushes McKay away from his leftist message and towards a more centrist one. As his honest and original platform gets watered down, his popularity goes up, and McKay finds himself running with Jarmon as Election Day comes closer. Screening | 1989: Screening of Acclaimed Polish Musical on Fighting Authoritarianism


The musical 1989 became a runaway hit in Poland and is the most awarded Polish play in recent history. Inspired by Hamilton, the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre and the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre in Kraków revisited Poland’s Solidarity movement through a mixture of hip-hop, rap, and pop. This is a screening of a television version of the play for Polish TV. It will be followed by a panel discussion ay 6:30pm with the director of the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre, Agata Grenda, the musical’s screenwriter Mirosław Wlekły, and producers Melania Szymerowska and Izabella Oleś. The panel discussion will be followed by an Election Watch Party at 7:30pm.
