Festival | Orchestra of St. Luke’s Family Music Day

Orchestra of St. Luke’s invites children, parents, and guardians to Family Music Day. The morning begins with a performance by members of OSL designed especially for children, featuring an arrangement of Strauss’ Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks—a chamber ensemble version known as Till Eulenspiegel with a Twist. This colorful music depicts the adventures of a mischievous folklore character. The musicians will make the performance an exciting experience for young listeners, explaining the unique characteristics of their instruments, pointing out what to listen for in the music, and inviting participation throughout. The performance will be followed by a special showcase by the young musicians of Youth Orchestra of St. Luke's. Children and families will then be invited to try out string and woodwind instruments with the help of YOSL teaching artists, participate in a music composition activity, join in a music-themed coloring project; and win giveaways with a spin on OSL’s prize wheel. The activities at Family Music Day are perfect for children ages four and older.
