Another example of an event that you can attend all year round on weekdays is Federal Reserve Bank Tour, which takes place every week day at 1 pm (but advanced reservations are required). You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. Workshop | Stop the Presses: A Printing Trip Through Time


Fans of fonts, parchment and the high seas are in for a treat. Established in 1775, the original Bowne & Co., Inc. was one of New York’s oldest printing firms. Today, Bowne & Co. is an offshoot of the original and continues the age-old tradition of small batch printing.  Aattendees have the opportunity to explore Bowne & Co.’s collection of printing equipment. You’ll get to see how the designers at Bowne typeset designs from some of the more eccentric parts of the Seaport Museum’s printing and graphic arts collection. You’ll also be able to make your own custom print! And if printing isn’t really your thing, you can engage with the Seaport’s maritime history by learning how to play yard games like line tossing and horseshoes on historic Water Street.

Aggarwal and King will discuss the Black freedom movement in New York, focusing on education and policing respectively, while Burgin examines the white fight for Black power in Detroit, and Hill focuses on the Black freedom struggle in Rochester. Thinking historically across these different urban contexts, we can see how people organized in the Jim Crow North, and what that teaches us about the unfinished business of the Black freedom struggle in New York today.
