You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. Museums | Folk Art: Ornamentation, Vibrant Drawings and Over 100 Handmade Gameboards - Tour


Join the tour to explore the art of the Shakers from the mid-19th century: colorful intricate ornamentation representing celestial imagery, vibrant drawings and much more. Another exhibition contains about 100 handmade gameboards, including chess, Parcheesi, checkers, Monopoly, Chutes and Ladders crafted between the mid-19 and early-20 centuries. The Shakers are a religious community founded in the 18th century in England. They are known for their unique beliefs, which include celibacy, communal living, and a strong emphasis on craftsmanship and simplicity. They are also recognized for their distinctive style of furniture and architecture, as well as their vibrant music and dance traditions. In the early 20th century, there were about 12 Shaker communities in the US and as of 2019, there is only one active Shaker village remaining, located in Maine.

Classical Music | Twilight Colors, The Willows are New and More: Works by Highly-Influential Chinese-American Composer (online)


Continuum ensemble, led by Joel Sachs, performs works by Chou Wen-chung (1923-2019). Wen-chung was a composer whose music draws on both Euro-American modernism and Chinese tradition. He created a legacy of cultural exchange across international borders. Workshop | Ingredients of Love Drawing & Writing Workshop


In conjunction with the exhibition Projects: Tad?sk?a, this collaborative group-led workshop is intended to provide an opportunity to build community among people who are interested in drawing and writing about love, transformation, and freedom--themes that are explored in the work "ave preta m?stica mystical black bird" (2022). Participants will experiment with a series of drawing exercises inspired by bell hooks's "ingredients of love" designed by the artist and facilitated by MoMA and Studio Museum staff. Participants will be invited to have free-form group discussion about these themes and their drawings, followed by a small reception. This workshop will be geared toward adults who are eager to be in community with others; to have conversations about love, freedom, and transformation; and to write and draw. No experience or expertise in drawing required. All materials will be provided.

Jazz | An Afternoon of Jazz with Multi-Grammy Winning Performers


Multi-Grammy winning Pianist Billy Childs and his Billy Childs Trio. Billy Childs has 17 Grammy nominations, and six Grammy awards. His compositions have been commissioned by the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and more. As a pianist, Childs has performed with Freddie Hubbard, J.J. Johnson, Yo-Yo Ma, Sting, Renee Fleming, Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis, and many others. The Los Angeles Times praised his "improvisatory skills and powerful sense of swing." Joining Childs is Scott Colley, a jazz double bassist and composer who has been called "one of the leading bassists of our post-bop era" (The New York Times). He has been nominated for four Grammy Awards, including Best Jazz Instrumental Album for Guided Tour in 2014 and Still Dreaming in 2019, and has performed on more than 200 recordings. Rounding out the trio is Ari Hoenig, an acclaimed jazz drummer, composer, and educator known for his unusual and intense approach to drumming. He has recorded, written, and produced 14 CDs as a leader and has collaborated with jazz legends such as Joshua Redman, Chris Potter, and Pat Martino.
