A new component has been added to the Moving Sounds Festival program: a one-day symposium where music experts, composers, musicians, and musicologists will discuss four different topics. One theme will address the relationship between sound art and composition, and investigate ways that the Internet is shaping the future of musical production. What methods will most effectively leverage the affordances of the Internet? Another topic will concern the politics of music on the Internet and how new models of musical distribution will change current practices. The Internet has challenged ossified views about music as intellectual property. What kind of economic models for distribution should we plan on seeing in the future?
