Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara are ancient cities in Uzbekistan along the Silk Road that played a pivotal more role in the histories of generations of Jewish families, shielding them from persecution and death. This is true of families of the members of Trio Fadolin, each of whom had a family member find themselves in Uzbekistan as a refugee from their homeland.
