A show inspired by the now-defunct Theory of the Humors. In part, this theory was used to explain the differences between the sexes. Participating Artists: KILEY AMES, THOMAS JOHN CARLSON, DIANA CORVELLE, AMY GOODWIN, JAZ HAROLD, IAN HEALY, AARON HOLZ, ALVARO LUNA, BENJAMIN MARTINS, ALYSSA MONKS, ALAINA PLOWDREY, MARK POLYAKOV, SHARA ROWLEY PLOUGH, JANSSON STEGNER, JOSEPH VENTURA, TABITHA WHITLEY and LAUREN WOODS

Opening Reception | Prints: John O'Brien's Accidental Orientalist

From the artist: "My practice is grounded in historical abstraction and is derived from a hermeneutic impulse, both in interpretation and translation. I draw from objects, images and environments around me and transform them through different physical processes. I work from my memory as well as from my immediate surroundings. I believe the rationale for this work is to decipher and re-imagine the things in the world and put them into an expanded context where their normal use is bracketed while other levels of meaning are formulated."

Concert | Shadow Puppet Play and Piano Performance: Claude Debussy’s La Boîte à joujoux

La Boîte à joujoux (The Toy-box), based on a scenario by the author and illustrator, André Hellé, is the third and final ballet written by Claude Debussy. It was intended as a ballet for child dancers or marionettes, and has, due to Debussy’s own ambivalence as to the style of performance, received a variety of productions. This performance features shadow play to tell the story of a love triangle between a doll, a soldier, and the villain, Polichinelle, on a night when the toys come alive. - Caroline Borderies and Christian Barthod, shadow puppeteers - Mirna Lekic, piano
