Both pioneers of underground and alternative comics, Kominsky-Crumb and Crumb have created a groundbreaking portrait of their shared lives and creative collaborations over the past four decades. The exhibition, a version of which was previously on view at the Cartoonmuseum Basel, will present an extensive selection of collaborative ink drawings from throughout the run of “Aline & Bob,” as well as solo works by both artists in a variety of media.

Opening Reception | Jean Dubuffet and Larry Poons: Material Topographies

Jean Dubuffet and Larry Poons: Material Topographies will explore the radical experimentation of both artists as they began to utilize unorthodox materials and reject traditional concepts of pictorial space in search of a direct, physical language. Though separated by more than a generation, their canvases share a rough urgency and a mistrust of unnecessary flourishes. Both artists stand as iconoclasts in the history of painting and cut their teeth as countercultural figures; Dubuffet in his Parisian avant-garde and Poons in the rough and tumble downtown scene of New York in the 1960s.

Opening Reception | Diego Perrone's Self Portraits: Sculptures

Born in 1970 in Asti, Italy, Diego Perrone lives and works in Asti and Milan. "Along with his interest in alchemical processes, Perrone also plays with the opposition between the coagulation of materials and the instability of forms. He tackles ancient bas-relief technique. Here he shows five pieces, each created using various materials (plaster, sheet iron, PVC). Molded chairs emerge from the material, like bodies from the bowels of the earth. Four drawings in red ballpoint pen on paper complete the project; their subjects revive the motif of the glass sculptures in the first room, like the cast of an idea that has produced an autonomous image.” - Artforum

The exhibition brings together work created from the 1990s through today, shedding light on the way Munson observes and organizes her everyday world.
