All are welcome to join an interesting historical day with nice hills and stairs to climb. Highlights: Henry Hudson Park and Bridge, Inwood Hill Park in search of Indian caves and the Shorakkopoch Rock, Isham Park, for a ginkgo biloba tree, Milestone No. 12 pharmacy and soda shoppe, Dyckman Farm House, Swindler Cove Park, lunch, then off to Harlem River Drive Greenway, over the Washington Bridge (not the GWB) for a short walk in the Bronx on Dr. Martin L. King Blvd., over the oldest bridge in NYC, High Bridge, back to Manhattan. Then take Highbridge Park to Morris-Jumel Mansion with milestone 11 and Sylvan Terrace. Continue toward Jackie Robinson Park, where Robeson and Ellington lived. Finish the day with a walk to Trinity Cemetery to Mayor Koch’s grave. Hope to finish before 4 pm. Bring lunch, fluids and snacks. A quick lunch will be outdoors at Swindler Cove Park. Dress in layers. Severe weather conditions may cancel.
