Tour | Three Bridges Walk: Henry Hudson, Washington (not GWB) and High Bridge Bridges


Duration: 6 hours. Distance: 10 to 12 miles. Bring lunch, plenty of fluids and snacks. City Walk | New Amsterdam and the Evolution of New York


Before there was New York, there was a sleepy outpost of the Dutch West India Company called Nieuw Amsterdam. The entirety of the colony that was New Amsterdam--which eventually evolved into one of the world's greatest cities--could be found south of Wall Street. Participants will walk through what is now known as the Financial District, discuss the Dutch origins in New Amsterdam, their relationship with the indigenous Lenape tribe, the transition from Dutch trading outpost to English colony to the (temporary) capital of a new independent nation, and much more.
