A screening of the moving drama, which was once a major film, but is largely forgotten today. Behind more the plot is a real-life story of an Uzbek couple who adopted fourteen wartime orphans, one of them Jewish. You Are Not an Orphan is a rare film depicting a difficult life in war-time Central Asia, and paying tribute to the events of the Holocaust. 75 min. The film will be introduced by Olga Gershenson, Associate Professor of Judaic and Near Eastern Studies at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
