Play | Shakespeare's All's Well That Ends Well in the Park (Accessible)

"This is the way Shakespeare wrote his plays to be seen." -The Huffington Post Get swept up in one of Shakespeare's boldest romantic comedies with New York Classical Theatre! Written around 1604, All's Well That Ends Well is one of Shakespeare's boldest romantic comedies. When Helena--a brilliant, determined young woman--heals a king, she earns the right to choose her husband. But love isn't so simple, and she must use wit, courage, and a daring plan to win the life she desires. Full of humor, heart, and twists, this rarely performed gem is a story of love on Helena's terms. New York Classical Theatre's signature style, Panoramic Theatre, turns public spaces into the world of the play. Instead of sitting in one place, the audience moves with the actors from scene to scene, following the action as it unfolds. This immersive approach creates a dynamic, interactive experience where every performance is shaped by its surroundings.

Concert | Piano in the Park: Eclectic Jazz

A five, six, seven, eight... Come on down and swing along to the best jazz the Big Apple has to offer with this special performance. An eclectic musician of Armenian origin, Armen Donelian has appeared internationally as a pianist, composer, and bandleader since 1975. He has worked with many of the "greats" including Sonny Rollins, Mongo Santamaria, Chet Baker, Paquito D'Rivera, Jackie Paris, Billy Harper and Night Ark. His piano playing reveals a masterful command rooted in classical and jazz studies, clean articulation, a deft swinging touch, access to a broad dynamic spectrum, a virtuosic harmonic vocabulary, and a boundless source of creative ideas. Armen is also a Fulbright Scholar, educator, author and producer of 14 acclaimed recordings. "Those who still believe that jazz is a down-and-dirty genre of music must cast their ears toward Armen Donelian, who, with his original music and arrangements of the scores of others, brings a serene sense of dignity and elegance to every measure." - Richard Houdek, The Berkshire Eagle (Pittsfield CityJazz Festival)

Author Reading | Alexander Sirotin Talks His New Story Collection: From Somewhere Over There To Somewhere Over Here

Alexander Sirotin presents his new book From Somewhere Over There To Somewhere Over Here. The stories of different genres collected in this book were written at different times and in different countries. Some of them appeared in Moscow in the early 1970s. According to the author, they reflect the absurdities of a country building its own version of communism. In 1976, the author made the final decision to flee the Soviet Union and go as far away as possible. "As far away as possible"- turned out to be the United States. The stories trace the theme of Russian Jewry. Its identity is determined by the burden of centuries of persecution of the Jewish people. Humor helped to survive, so the humorous monologues are told by the author with a Jewish accent. The collection also includes two stories by the author's mother, Nekhama Sirotina, in order to preserve them and show the continuity of the gift through generations. It is also a respectful bow of the son to the memory of his mother, whose short life was filled with suffering, and as a sign of gratitude to her.

Concert | Music in the Park: Grammy-Winning Artists Play Jazz & Funk

This event features a group of performers that stretch the boundaries of jazz and funk to incorporate the wide variety of African Diaspora sounds. "Laid Black" multi-instrumentalist Marcus Miller has collaborated closely with artists who can be called legends without any hyperbole: Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Luther Vandross, Wayne Shorter, and David Sanborn- to name a few. The two-time GRAMMY winning artist's chops are deadly serious, but he still knows how to keep it loose, counting "Da Butt," the tongue-in-cheek anthem from Spike Lee's School Daze, among his impressive songwriting credits. The evening also features two New Orleans-based musicians: Tank and the Bangas, the NPR Tiny Desk contest-winning ensemble that fuses funk, soul, hip-hop, rock, and spoken-word poetry into an unforgettable performance, fresh off a GRAMMY win for leading lady Tank's spoken word album; and The Soul Rebels, an eight-piece ensemble revolutionizing the conventional brass band framework to inject new life into sounds from across the pop spectrum. DJ Logic will be on the ones and twos between sets. Doors open one hour prior to showtime.

Discussion | Revisiting Battery Dance Pavilion: Discussion & Performance

Battery Dance, a lower Manhattan–based dance company, held a public dance festival at the World Trade Center Plaza every year between 1982 and 2001. Just two weeks after the 9/11 attacks, the company presented a spontaneous performance entitled Pavilion at the Franklin Street subway station on the cusp of the “frozen zone." Founder and Artistic Director of Battery Dance Jonathan Hollander, Dancer Tadej Brdnik, Composer and Tabla Player Samir Chatterjee, and Composer and World Percussionist Yousif Sheronick, reflect on the importance of the performance and what it means almost 25 years later. The discussion will be followed by a re-staged performance of Pavilion by Kar'mel Small.

Lecture | Living with Wildfire: Learn from Climate Expert

Wildfires are no longer a seasonal threat--they're a year-round reality. As the climate changes, fires are becoming more frequent, intense, and unpredictable, raising urgent questions about how we can better prepare and adapt. At this event, Toddi Steelman, a leading expert on wildland fires and vice president and vice provost for climate and sustainability at Duke University, explains how wildfires, climate change, and humans interact. Steelman will break down the fundamental drivers of wildfires and explain how climate change is amplifying each of these factors. Through real-world case studies, from the devastating fires in Lahaina and Los Angeles to the broader patterns shaping our landscapes, Steelman will explore not just the risks but also potential measures towards mitigation and adaptation. How can individuals, neighborhoods, and entire communities take action? What strategies, from home hardening to large-scale fuel management, can help us coexist with fire in a warming world? While the challenges are immense, there are also stories of resilience and hope. This discussion offers a critical perspective on the future of fire and what we can do together to live with wildfire. Ages 21+ only.

Play | Shakespeare's All's Well That Ends Well in the Park (Dog-Friendly Night)

Enjoy Shakespeare with your best four-legged friend by your side. Shakespearean ruffs and treats will be on hand to take pictures of you and your best friend.
