Gallery Talk | Learn More about Korean Art: 5th Century through Today

Hear new insights and untold stories and take a closer look at the works of art. You'll also have the opportunity to ask questions. Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Colorful Korea: The Lea R. Sneider Collection. Over the course of forty years, Lea R. Sneider (1925-2020) formed a significant collection of Korean art that challenged established norms. While appreciating literati art, she was particularly drawn to lively and colorful forms connected to everyday life, resulting in a diverse collection that illustrates Korea's vibrant material culture. Through approximately 100 pieces from the fifth century to the present, including paintings, ceramics, furniture, textiles, and funerary and ritual objects, the exhibition highlights the pervasiveness of auspicious symbolism and the unpretentious dynamism in Korean art. Sneider has said that the works reflect the vitality and warmth of the people who engaged with them, a sentiment that her collection, with its emphasis on cultural and everyday relevance, underscores. Note: Space is limited; first come, first served. Priority will be given to those who register.

She is known for her debut book, Bone, as well as for her spoken-word poetry, and for being an "Instagram poet". Play | Shakespeare's All's Well That Ends Well in the Park

"This is the way Shakespeare wrote his plays to be seen." -The Huffington Post Get swept up in one of Shakespeare's boldest romantic comedies with New York Classical Theatre! Written around 1604, All's Well That Ends Well is one of Shakespeare's boldest romantic comedies. When Helena--a brilliant, determined young woman--heals a king, she earns the right to choose her husband. But love isn't so simple, and she must use wit, courage, and a daring plan to win the life she desires. Full of humor, heart, and twists, this rarely performed gem is a story of love on Helena's terms. New York Classical Theatre's signature style, Panoramic Theatre, turns public spaces into the world of the play. Instead of sitting in one place, the audience moves with the actors from scene to scene, following the action as it unfolds. This immersive approach creates a dynamic, interactive experience where every performance is shaped by its surroundings.
