About the Program
Dmitri Shostakovich is regarded as one of the major composers of the 20th century. Shostakovich's orchestral works include 15 symphonies and six concerti. His chamber output includes string quartets, piano trios, and two piano sonatas. Other works include three operas, several song cycles, ballets, and a substantial quantity of film music

Franz Joseph Haydn was one of the most prolific classical music composers. He wrote 104 symphonies, 68 string quartets, two great oratorios (The Creation and The Seasons), as well as numerous sonatas, piano trios and other chamber pieces. He is often called a "father of the symphony" and a"father of the string quartet."

Lalo's most celebrated piece is Symphonie espagnole, which is a popular work in the standard repertoire for violin and orchestra.

About the Performers
Kristin Lee has appeared as soloist with leading orchestras including The Philadelphia Orchestra among others.
She has performed on the world’s finest concert stages, including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, the Kennedy Center, Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center among others.

The New York Repertory Orchestra, founded as a reading orchestra in 1992 by Music Director David Leibowitz, is New York's leading all-volunteer, community-based orchestra, is made up of talented professional and amateur musicians. NYRO strives for exciting performances, provocative programs and the highest artistic level. To its fans and followers, these qualities have become the hallmarks of this exceptional ensemble.
