B ig-shot executive Louis Winthorpe III and broke hustler Billy Ray Valentine are the subjects of a bet by Mortimer and Randolph Duke, two successful brokers. The Dukes frame Winthorpe, an employee of theirs, for a crime he didn't commit. They then replace him with the street-smart Valentine. When Winthorpe and Valentine discover the truth, they team up to bring down the Dukes.

Dan Aykroyd is a Canadian actor, comedian, screenwriter, producer, and musician. Aykroyd was a writer and an original member of the "Not Ready for Prime Time Players" cast on Saturday Night Live from its inception in 1975 until his departure in 1979. For his work on the show, he received five Primetime Emmy Award nominations, winning for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series in 1977. Aykroyd gained prominence for writing, and starring in Ghostbusters (1984), and Ghostbusters II (1989) and has reprised his role in various projects within the Ghostbusters franchise. He also is known for his comedic roles in Trading Places (1983), Spies Like Us (1985), Coneheads (1993), The Blues Brothers (1980), and more.

Eddie Murphy is an American actor, comedian, and singer who shot to fame on Saturday Night Live, for which he was a regular cast member from 1980 to 1984. He is widely recognized as one of the greatest comedians of all time. Murphy received a Grammy Award and an Emmy Award. In 2015, Murphy was honored with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, and in 2023 the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award.

Jamie Lee Curtis is an American actress and producer known for her performances in the horror and slasher genres, in addition to roles in comedies. Curtis has received multiple accolades, including an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and two Golden Globe Awards, as well as a nomination for a Grammy Award.
