At the same time, she's fully aware that Bob is also intimately invovled with middle-aged doctor Daniel Hirsh. For both Alex and Daniel, Bob represents a break with their repressive pasts, and even though they both know Bob is seeing both of them, neither is willing to let go of the youth and vitality he brings into their lives.

Glenda Jackson was an English actress and politician who received numerous accolades including two Academy Awards, two BAFTA Awards, three Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and a Tony Award. A member of the Labour Party, she served continuously as a Member of Parliament (MP) for 23 years.

Peter Finch was an English-Australian actor of theatre, film and radio. One of British cinema's most celebrated leading men of the time, Finch won the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role five times, and won a posthumous Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of crazed television anchorman Howard Beale in the 1976 film Network.
