Party | End of Summer Soiree and Art Market

Friday, September 8, 2023, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Free

Meet local artists and peruse their works! Just in time to celebrate the end of Summer, and the coming Fall. There will be live music from Benji Kaplan, a book swap, and refreshments will be served.

Participating artists: Lily Annabelle Caleakav, Melody Serra, Julia Van Nutt, Timur York.

About the Artists
Lily Annabelle Caleakav's work, often described as "modern nostalgia," is an examination of life in New York, and the sentiments that lie behind its facades. Her illustrations challenge the transitory nature of this town and preserve the heartwarming moments that define one's time in New York, long or short. The New York in her eyes is one that is stripped of intimidation and angst; she lets her audience see that beneath the surface, its people are neighborly, comforting, and full of life. Lily's Iconic New York series is a celebration of this city's people, its communities, and its cultural, literary, and culinary traditions.

Melody Serra's passion is teaching and empowering others by sharing what she has learned. She helped launch an arts and crafts program at a children's hospital and also taught at San Quentin State Prison. Melody hopes to inspire youth to explore and expand their creativity through web development, writing, and art.

Timur York is a New York-based independent multidisciplinary artist. He was born in Uzbekistan and immigrated as a teenager to NYC. He attended the School of Visual Arts with a focus on Graphic Arts and Advertising. The experience of fusing Fine Art principles and Design aesthetics formed a unique way he approaches his subject matter. His artistic area of interest is centered around the concepts of Time, Place, History, and Love. He depicts contemporary society's issues through graphic iconography, photography, painting, sculpture, and mixed media. Timur's early sculpture work is on permanent outdoor display at Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington, D.C. His current work is in several museums and private collections.
